Focus
Let your soul take a moment of rest as you hear God’s word. Put your busy schedule, wandering mind, stressful thoughts, and burdened heart at the feet of the cross and open up to God’s voice as the Giver of Life tends your soul.

Exodus 33:12-17 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
Moses said to the Lord, “See, you have said to me, ‘Bring up this people’; but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ Now if I have found favor in your sight, show me your ways, so that I may know you and find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.” He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” And he said to him, “If your presence will not go, do not carry us up from here. For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people, unless you go with us? In this way, we shall be distinct, I and your people, from every people on the face of the earth.”
The Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing that you have asked; for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.”
Reflect
Life is more fun with friends. Sometimes I feel like I have a different friend for everything in my life; friends to eat lunch with, travel with, call after a rough day, have a movie night with, and so many more things. Think about what you have done in the last few days. Did you do any of it alone? Or, did you call a friend because you didn’t want to do something alone?
Moses wants a friend. In the book of Exodus we see Moses go through a lot with Aaron, and now Moses wants to know who his next friend will be to help with the long journey ahead. Have you ever wondered who God is going to send you to help? I have. I have been so tired and scared about what I was doing that all I wanted was for someone to go with me so I wasn’t alone. I also wonder what I missed waiting for a friend to come around before I did something. If you continue to read, you see that God did great things with Moses because Moses went alone with God. Today, I encourage you to look for ways you can simply be with God and not worry about who will go with you as you follow God’s Call.
Pray
God, I ask that you show me how to simply rest with you in all that I do. To know that you go with me as you went with Moses, and because of that I have the best companion there is. Give me peace and comfort to follow your call even when it gets scary and difficult. Amen.
Go with God!
