As you quiet yourself for this brief time, be willing to be open to God, however that may take place.

Psalm 95 (NRSV)
O come, let us sing to the LORD;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the LORD is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and the dry land, which his hands have formed.
O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.
O that today you would listen to his voice!
Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
when your ancestors tested me,
and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.
For forty years I loathed that generation
and said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they do not regard my ways.”
Therefore in my anger I swore,
“They shall not enter my rest.”
Reflect
Our family spent Easter weekend with my sister and mom. We awoke early to attend the sunrise service. The windy roads led to the small, country church. Even though it was raining, the beauty of spring spoke to me. As we pulled in to park, I looked across the cemetery at the beautiful flowers loved ones had placed on the graves of those who had gone before them. Many of the trees in the wooded area down the hill from the cemetery were in bloom. What a beautiful site!
Later that afternoon, we gathered at my aunt and uncle’s house for the annual Easter egg hunt. You could hear joyful noises as the children ran through the yard and enjoyed being outside in God’s creation. The pasture hills with the horses grazing on the horizon were picture perfect.
Today take time to look around you and give praise and thanksgiving for all of God’s creation!
Pray
Lord, help us to remember to be still and know that you are God. Open our eyes and hearts to the many blessings that surround us each day. May we always be thankful for the wonder and beauty of your creation. Amen.
Go with God.
