The Reverend Nathan Wheeler, coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Discipleship Ministry Team, announced May 1, 2020, the Cumberland Presbyterian Youth Conference scheduled for June 21 through 26, 2020, has been cancelled.
The official announcement follows:
The Cumberland Presbyterian Youth Conference (CPYC) for the last 96 years has gathered youth and adult staff from the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America. Each summer hundreds of youth look forward to this week all year. I look forward to CPYC every year and the ways God moves and shapes the lives of young people during that week. Our Youth Ministry Planning Council (YMPC) give so much time and effort to dream up what CPYC can be each summer. We are all saddened that we will not be able to gather this summer at CPYC.
Due to our current circumstances and the uncertainty of the coming months we have chosen to cancel CPYC 2020 that was scheduled to take place June 21-26th at Bethel University. We grieve not being able to have CPYC this summer but look forward to the summer of 2021 with the hope that CPYC will be able to gather again on the campus of Bethel University. A date for 2021 has not been set but we will post it at cpc.app-staging.com/cpyc along with additional information in the coming months.
This was a difficult decision and we are hurting along with so many of you that we will not be able to see one another at CPYC this summer. We hope that through these efforts of staying safe in our homes, practicing safe and social distancing, and supporting those in our communities who are considered essential we help curb the spread of Covid-19 and we live out Christ’s command to love one another as we love ourselves.
Peace,
Nathan Wheeler
